It was a festive day with lots of applause as this year's graduates at AAU Esbjerg were handed their diplomas. A total of 53 students graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree, an MSc in Engineering, and other Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Also, 64 students with new Bachelor’s degrees will continue in a Master’s program at AAU Esbjerg after the summer holiday. The Teacher of the Year in Chemistry was also named at the ceremony and a group of students received a scholarship from De Frie Erhvervs Investeringsfond.

Anders Schmidt Kristensen, Head of Campus, welcomed the graduates and congratulated them on completing their education, expressing his hope that they will be good ambassadors for Aalborg University Esbjerg. He also used the occasion to thank Esbjerg Municipality, partners, businesses and foundations for the resources they make available to AAU Esbjerg, and to thank the city's elementary and upper secondary schools for helping to raise awareness of the natural sciences and Aalborg University Esbjerg.

Among the day's speakers was Torben Blaaholm, Administrative Director, Blaaholm A/S, himself a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from AAU Esbjerg. Based on his own experience as an engineer, he had some good advice for the new graduates: "Forget about planning your career. You have to do what feels right for you, and don't be afraid to change direction." He advised the graduates to follow their own path and make sure that their job is their passion.

Other speakers were Mogens Rysholt Poulsen, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Jens Bo Holm-Nielsen, Associate Professor and Section Head for Energy Technology, AAU Esbjerg; Birgit Kjærside Storm, Associate Professor and Representative for the Danish Society of Engineers; Johanne Gregersen, President of the Danish Association of Professional Technicians, Esbjerg Division; and Mikkel Rindholt, Representative for the Student Society, AAU Esbjerg and a student in the  Energy program.
