SERGEY KUCHERYAVSKIY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AT ENGINEERING

Commitment, dedication and the ability to motivate are among the attributes that were decisive for Sergey Kucheryavskiy being named Teacher of the Year at the Faculty of Engineering and Science.

- Sergey's significant engagement in “Applied Statistics” is unique, and he is extremely dedicated in his lectures as well as when it comes to helping students understand the assignments. The resources and the time he devotes to his teaching are greatly important for the students' understanding of a very theoretical subject.

This is how the students at the Study Board for Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering describe Sergey Kucheryavskiy, Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience and to daily teaches students at Aalborg University campus in Esbjerg.

In addition to his ability to motivate the students and to create coherence between theory and practice, Sergey has launched specific measures to ensure variation in teaching.

- Sergey has created a learning platform with videos and examples that help and guide the students through the syllabus. Sergey also uses different types of teaching, and the combination of lectures, exercises and the learning platform makes a big difference for the students, write the student representatives in the nomination.

The award was presented at the winter graduation ceremony at the Faculty of Engineering and Science on Friday, 9 February. The other candidates for the teacher of the year title at the faculty were:

This year's AAU Teacher of the Year will be announced at the traditional annual celebration, Friday, 13 April 2018.
