Description

EU turns to Esbjerg for inspiration for its energy policy!

Join us this Thursday afternoon for a debate where you can learn more about green transition in Esbjerg as well as in Europe, and how we can ensure a green Europe. What can the EU learn from Esbjerg and what can Esbjerg learn from the EU?

Join us, when Kadri Simson, the new EU Commissioner for Energy from Latvia, visits Esbjerg together with the newly elected local member of the European Parliament (MEP), Asger Christensen (Venstre).

In collaboration with Aalborg University Esbjerg the European Commission will focus on green transition in both Esbjerg and the EU.

Professor Lasse Rosendahl, acting Head of Institute of Energy Technology and a member of the Horizon 2020 programme committee, will be the moderator, and you will have plenty of time to ask questions and to join the debate!

The new Commissioner for Energy has chosen Esbjerg as her very first destination for a visit to a Member State, and she recognises the leading position of Esbjerg as an energy hub. Esbjerg is a fantastic example of how green transition can also be a strategy for growth. Both the European Commission and the European Parliament are fully aware of Denmark’s central role in the promotion of green transition throughout Europe. A transition, which, among other things, later this year will lead to a new European offshore wind strategy.

The Commissioner and the MEP would like to use the opportunity of this debate to meet Danish citizens and listen to their expectations regarding EU’s green future.

You will also have a chance to direct questions to Per Michael Johansen, rector of Aalborg University, who will participate alongside Kadri Simson and Asger Christensen in the debate on the potential of the green transition.

The press is also very welcome.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Drinks and tapas will be served after the event.
